RURAL ROUTEWAY - ViSTA

PROJECT SUMMARY

The project will deliver job search/work preparation/ support/ interview guarantees for workless individuals in the rural locations of W & S Somerset and improve the skills and employability of those taking part.  All Rural Routeway participants will be given the encouragement and opportunity to complete an accredited unit for work readiness skills within a range from the National Open College Network Progression Awards @ level 1 or level 2. Rural Routeway training courses will link participants into the opportunity to secure voluntary sector, apprenticeship opportunities available in two rural areas of Somerset.


ABOUT THE PROJECT

ViSTA is inviting unemployed people in Somerset who would like to move into work with training, to come along to a recruitment and information fair during December. At the fairs they will get the chance to meet the team and find out about joining the Rural Routeway programme, which could lead to an apprenticeship with a whole range of work areas to choose from.

Vista will be running two recruitment and information fairs, one in Minehead  (15 December 10 am – 2 pm) and the other in Langport Town Hall (9 December 10am – 2pm).

 

If you are unemployed, the recruitment fairs will be the first step in your training and employment pathway. You can go forward to take 10 sessions of “Rural Routeway” training which will give you preparation for work or apprenticeship.

 

This will offer the chance to get some core skills under your belt in readiness for today’s working environments. You will also get the chance to build a folder of your skills and gain an accredited qualification.

 

Sessions will cover things like: introduction to working life, problem solving, budgeting, interview skills and career planning with 1:1 information advice & guidance, sessions and employee rights & responsibilities.

 

After these sessions you will be guaranteed an interview to be assesses for an exciting apprenticeship scheme job role that suits your skills and abilities.

 

ViSTA will recruit apprenticeships into Youth Work,  Customer Service and Heritage Care, Cleaning and Performing Manufacturing Operations.

 

You will also have the opportunity to talk through your other job ideas and get some advice on the best next step forward.
