Podimore Recycling

podimore recycling - old buildingPROJECT SUMMARY

Conversion of redundant milking parlour and dairy to office building with staff facilities including rest room, washroom and kitchen facilities and essential security staff accommodation.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Podimore Recycling Limited is run by the directors Richard and Dawn Prince. The business was established just 4 years ago. The principal activity of the business is to recycle soil, stone, road planings, concrete, tarmac and rubble. The business is run on the site of an old dairy farm, and employs 8 local workers in a completely rural location.

Podimore recycling provides a service to the local community that benefits both private individuals and commercial interests. The business operates a genuine environmentally sound business engaged in the recovery of waste materials that would otherwise be destined for landfill.

The business has been unable to grow, and is being held back by the hopelessly inadequate office facilities and poor employment rest room conditions.

podimore recycling - old building and caravanThe site has a redundant milking parlour which it is proposed to develop into an office building to permit the employment of a salesman and secretarial staff, and to retain a 24/7 security guard. The activities of the salesman will be expected to generate 2 to 3 driver jobs to match the increased demand in material handling.

The Workspace funding will permit the planned business expansion to take place, allowing the valuable services provided by few others, to continue and develop for the benefit of local individuals and businesses in Somerset.

In summary the planned expenditure to develop a redundant farm building will provide for 3 new jobs, secure existing jobs, and in turn will increase the business turnover and profitability. The impact of this development will be to enhance the recycling service that the business provides to the community.
